Carpet Tile Tackifier

This is a solvent free acrylic polymer emulsion adhesive that provides a permanently tacky film, preventing carpet tiles from moving under normal traffic. And as it always remains tacky, it also means that the tiles can be lifted and replaced easily when required.

It can be used with carpet tiles backed with bitumen/felt, non-woven fabric, PVC and other polymer backings. It can be spread on to sound, smooth, dry absorbent subfloors of concrete, sand/cement screed, smoothing underlayments, flooring grade chipboard, plywood and hardboard.

Also on non-absorbent surfaces such as terrazzo, granolithic, steel, thermoplastic tiles and quarry tiles, linoleum and vinyl floorcoverings. Asphalt surfaces must be skimmed with minimum of 3mm of appropriate smoothing underlayment.

Installation / Application

Subfloors must be sound, smooth, dry and free from any contaminants which will affect adhesion. Existing smooth floorings must be firmly fixed with all traces of polish removed.

Using a brush or roller, apply the adhesive evenly to the subfloor, over the whole area to be covered. Allow to dry to a clear, tacky film before placing the carpet tiles in position, pressing fimly from the centre outwards and paying particular attention to the edges.

The tiles must not be laid before the adhesive has dried to a clear film as this can result in a permanent bond being formed.

The coverage rate is approximately 7m² per litre with a drying time of approximately 30 minutes.

Maintenance

The tackifier is not affected by normal wet cleaning techniques.
